Australia's MLC Wealth Adds Another C-Suite Figure

The Australian wealth house is scheduled to legally separate itself from the old parent bank. It has added a raft of senior figures in recent months.

MLC Wealth, the Australian firm that is part of National Australia Bank, has appointed Darren McKenzie as chief technology and operations officer, taking effect in March 2020.

McKenzie joins MLC from RSA Insurance, where he was chief operating officer for the UK and international business for four years. McKenzie will report to NAB group chief technology and operations officer, Patrick Wright, and MLC’s CEO Geoff Lloyd, until MLC is legally split off from ANZ, as is scheduled. (ANZ is spinning off this business as part of a restructuring move.)

Before this role, McKenzie spent the past four years at RSA Insurance where he was COO UK & International. Prior to that he spent six years (2009-2015) as chief information officer at Banco Santander for their consumer banking businesses, based in Frankfurt.

MLC has hired a number of senior figures, such as Andrew Morgan (chief commercial services officer and chief financial officer), Anthony Lane (chief operating officer), Mark Baxter (chief risk officer), Kylie Smith (chief communications, digital and marketing officer), Shenaz Waples (previously Khan) (chief human resources officer), Garry Mulcahy (asset management), Tim Steele (retirement and investment solutions), and Darren Stevens (platforms).
