CONFERENCE PREVIEW: Defending, Transferring Assets In Difficult Times

This annual conference in Monaco will see private client, wealth management and related industry professionals examine issues such as how to identify threats to assets, protect and transfer them.
Against a backdrop of geopolitical turmoil and a series of tax squeezes on HNW individuals, it is necessary to explore how to defend assets, pass them on safely and be vigilant against threats.
Following last year’s highly stimulating Trustconsult conference in Monaco on the issues affecting privacy, practitioners from the firm and the wider wealth management sector gather again in the European principality to discuss important topics such as wealth preservation, residency and threat mitigation.
The theme of the conference is “Global threats on you and your assets: How to secure your position, holdings and transmission.”
"In an era where economic uncertainties, shifting regulations, and technological vulnerabilities are reshaping the global wealth environment, safeguarding assets and enduring their safe transition has never been more critical," Cecile Civiale Vuillier, partner at Trustconsult Suisse, told this publication. "This conference aims to provide attendees with concrete strategies and expert insights to navigate these challenges with confidence."
Christian Buhlmann, chief executive of Trustconsult Group (Monaco) will introduce the conference; HRM Queen Diambi Kabatusuila of Congo will also give an introductory speech.
The first panel, entitled “Identifying and mitigating threats to your wealth and security,” features Filippo Noseda, partner, Mishcon de Reya (UK); Francesco Grosoli, CEO of CMB Monaco (Monaco); Christian Buhlmann, CEO Trustconsult Group (Monaco); and Pierre-Jean Douvier, international tax specialist in Monaco.
The second panel – “Establishing stability: Personal relocation and strategic tax residency" – features Baptiste Polan, Trustconsult Group (Switzerland); Nicolas Rochette (an expert on relocation to the UAE, from Stonegate (UAE); Thibault Venrenterghem, family officer, Intuitae Paris (France); and Francesco Oliveti, managing partner, Ari Financial Group (Switzerland).
The third panel, under the banner of “Safeguarding Wealth: Optimal structures and jurisdictions for legacy planning,” includes Nicholas Dhotel, CEO Trustconsult Capital Advisory (Switzerland); Alexander Kern, global business developer (UAE and Monaco); Anna Dinescu, COO and founder, VAIA (Malta); and Bjoern Lippe, founding partner, Dara5 (UK).
The fourth and final panel of the afternoon is on the theme of “Beyond borders: Preserving privacy in international estate planning.” Panellists are Cécile Civiale Vuillier, partner at Trustconsult Suisse (Switzerland); David W Wilson, partner, attorney at law, Schellenberg Wittmer (Switzerland); Marcos Esteve, managing partner, Banque Heritage (Switzerland); Line-Alexa Glotin, partner, UGGC Avocats (France); and William Easun, founding partner, Tempest Legal (Monaco).
