Deutsche Names Ex-HSBC Figure As Investment Management Head, North Asia

The appointee, who has nearly 20 years of experience across FX and commodity advisory, multi-asset trading, and product strategy at HSBC, has also served in senior roles at Citi and UBS.

Deutsche Bank has appointed Cora Chiu as head of investment management, North Asia, effective 16 December, and subject to regulatory approvals.

She will report functionally to Gian-Maria Piccolo and locally to Fred Fong, the German bank said in a statement yesterday.

Chiu has nearly 20 years' experience across foreign exchange and commodity advisory, multi-asset trading, and product strategy at HSBC. Her current role at HSBC is head of foreign exchange and commodities, North Asia. Prior to this, she led the forex and commodity advisory desk at Citi, where she was responsible for regional forex strategy for ultra-high net worth individuals and family offices. Earlier in her career Chiu was executive director at UBS, working in both wealth management and FICC franchises.

Chiu’s appointment in Hong Kong reinforces Deutsche’s commitment to invest in and attract local talent, empowering the North Asia team with homegrown leadership, the bank said.

With extensive market expertise and leadership energy, Chiu will play a pivotal role in continuing to drive “the investment dialogue” with clients and strengthen the investment franchise in the region, the bank said in a statement.
