Law Firm Sets Out Asia Growth Ambitions, Opens Hong Kong Office

The law firm, which is working in partnership with two other organisations, has set its sights on expanding in APAC, among other regions.

Broadfield, the law firm formerly known as BDB Pitmans, has opened an office in Hong Kong whose team provides investment fund formation, private equity mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory, and turnaround services.

The organisation will start building out aligned practice areas later in the year, it said. The Hong Kong team plans to expand to 30 professionals, including 20 lawyers, by the end of summer 2025. With its office in London and Hong Kong, it has a team of more than 400 professionals.

Operating in association with Liu, Patrick Ling & Co LLP – a Hong Kong law firm founded by Patrick Liu – Broadfield will integrate PLL's insights into its global platform.

Effie Vasilopoulos, an authority on investment fund formation, will lead Broadfield's Asia-Pacific operations. Vasilopoulos was a member of a global executive committee, co-head of the Greater China Region, and founder of the APAC Investment Funds Group at an international law firm.

SHP Legal Services will support Broadfield Hong Kong and PLL with technology expertise, talent acquisition, and business strategy.

Besides Liu and Vasilopoulos, another senior figure at the team is Huberta Chow, partner, PLL; Chow concentrates on private fund formation and financial services regulatory matters, and has worked for 18 years at an international law firm.

Broadfield anticipates further growth across Asia within the next 12 to 18 months, it said.
