Sun Life Names New Asia Chief Human Resources Officer

Sun Life, a financial services organisation providing asset management, wealth, insurance and health solutions to clients with assets under management of $1.46 trillion, makes senior hire.
Canadian-headquartered Sun Life has just appointed Georgina Farrell (pictured) as chief human resources officer for Asia, starting in May.
In this role, Farrell will be responsible for driving Sun Life’s talent and culture strategy in the region focusing on talent development, organisational growth and employee engagement to support Sun Life’s growth ambitions in Asia.
Based in Sun Life’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, she will be a member of the Asia executive team and HR executive team, reporting to Helena Pagano, executive vice-president (EVP), chief people nd culture officer, Sun Life, and Manjit Singh, president, Sun Life Asia.
Farrell is joining from RSA where she was chief people officer, UK, Ireland and Europe and played a key role in developing a people strategy to support business growth, the firm said in a statement. With over 20 years’ experience in HR leadership roles in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, she has a track record of building high-performing teams and aligning people initiatives to business priorities to drive business growth.
“As we grow and transform our Asia business, attracting and developing top talent and maintaining our strong culture is a key priority. Georgina is an outstanding HR leader with extensive experience designing and executing people strategies to deliver transformation and growth objectives internationally,” Singh said.
Sun Life has operations in a number of markets worldwide, including Canada, the United States, the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, India, China, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Bermuda.
