Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – MSCI, BNP Paribas

The latest moves, appointments and other personnel changes in the Asia-Pacific wealth management sector.

MSCI
MSCI, the markets and investment indices provider, has appointed one of its senior figures, Shane Edwards, as head of Asia-Pacific client coverage. Edwards is currently head of Australia and New Zealand client coverage.

Edwards will report directly to Axel Kilian, chief client officer, MSCI said in a statement yesterday.

Kazuya Nagasawa, the existing head of APAC client coverage, is leaving to pursue new opportunities, it said.

“I would also like to thank Kazu for his tremendous contribution to MSCI in the past 12 years. His leadership has strengthened our Japan and Asia-Pacific market presence and competitive edge, and helped build a solid foundation for continued growth,” Kilian said.

Before he joined MSCI in February 2024, Edwards was global head of equity derivatives at UBS, where he was responsible for sales, trading and structuring functions across all product areas. He brought 25 years of experience in finance to the role, having also worked at RBS/ABN Amro, Deutsche Bank and Macquarie Bank.

BNP Paribas
BNP Paribas’ Securities Services business, the custodian for buy- and sell-side market players, has appointed Laure Ly as head of Hong Kong, effective 2 October.

Ly is succeeding Julien Kasparian, who has been appointed as regional head UK & Middle East for Securities Services, subject to regulatory approvals. Ly started her career with the Securities Services business of BNP Paribas in 2004.
