aberdeen Investments has appointed Isaac Thong from JP Morgan Asset Management as senior investment director on the Asia Pacific equities team.

Based in Singapore, Thong will lead aberdeen's Asian income strategies, as well as being part of the Asia Pacific equity team, the firm said in a statement. He is replacing Yoojeong Oh, who is leaving aberdeen to pursue other interests. Thong will report directly to Flavia Cheong, head of Asia Pacific equities, aberdeen,

Thong, who has more than 15 years experience in the financial industry, was most recently at JP Morgan Asset Management, working in portfolio manager roles focused on global emerging markets and Asian equities across both the UK and Singapore. These included the JPM Emerging Markets Income Fund and JPMorgan Global Emerging Markets Income Trust, which he co-managed.

“Isaac joins a growing Asian income franchise where we have strong conviction and brings an excellent track record and strong pedigree to our talented team. We are excited to bring him on board. At the same time, we would like to thank Yoojeong for her dedication to aberdeen over the years and wish her well for the future,” Cheong said.
