The Swiss private bank and asset manager EFG has joined forces with the Hong Kong Golf Association, the governing body for amateur golf in the jurisdiction, to start the EFG Bank HKGA Junior Golf Programme.

The Junior Golf Programme will train young golfing talent in Hong Kong between the ages of 7 and17. The aim is to increase the number of players making the transition to college golf and ultimately to the professional tours, thereby acting as ambassadors for Hong Kong on the international stage.

EFG’s investment will be used to fund a new junior tour for players aged 7-14, and an extended overseas tournament schedule for young players showing particular promise. There will also be additional squad training; monthly tournament participation in China; and expanded high performance training for players.

The bank has also established the EFG Bank Young Golfers’ Foundation and in a statement expressed its hopes this initiative would be the start of a long-term relationship with the HKGA.
