ANZ has recently reshuffled its executive ranks and appointed John Van Der Wielen to the newly created role of managing director for wealth, Australia.

Van Der Wielen assumes his new role in October this year. He steps in from Lloyds Banking Group, where he served as managing director for Clerical Medical, Halifax Life and European Financial Services.

The appointment comes after ANZ completed its take over of ING Australia and integrated it with its own wealth management division.

The announcement also came with the appointment of ING Australia chief executive officer Harry Stout as acting managing director for wealth. He will be involved in the transition before his planned return to the US next year.

The other executives involved in the reshuffling are Louis Hawke, who has been named as ANZ managing director for product, strategy and marketing, and Mark Hand, who takes over Hawke's previous position. Hawke was formerly the managing director for retail distribution, while Hand was general manager for regional commercial banking.
