ANZ Chief Information Officer Steps Down

ANZ group chief operating officer Alistair Currie takes over as chief information officer while a replacement for outgoing executive Anne Weatherston is identified.

Australia and New Zealand Bank, one of Australia's Big Four banks, has announced that its chief information officer is stepping down.

Anne Weatherston is leaving the company after four years in the role, said the firm in a statement, without citing specific reasons. Her post will be assumed by Alistair Currie, currently the group chief operating officer, until a replacement is named.

Weatherston has been cited for leading the strengthening of ANZ's technology infrastructure, including introducing new customer channels, such as mobile goMoney and ANZ Transactive. The division is expected to continue these efforts as it takes a more integrated approach toward shared services and operations.

A global search will be undertaken to fill the CIO post.
