ANZ Names New General Manager, Internal Audit

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group has filled the role vacated by its new compliance chief.

ANZ has appointed Kevin Corbally as group general manager, internal audit. He replaces Michael Liarakos, who became the group's chief compliance officer in June.

Corbally, who joined ANZ in 2009, is currently managing director, credit and capital management. Before that, he was the group's head of institutional relationship banking in Australia. Before ANZ, he was managing director, head of corporate and commercial banking, Australia and New Zealand at Citigroup. He has also worked at Deutsche Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Based in Melbourne, Corbally will report jointly to ANZ's chairman of the audit committee, Paula Dwyer, and chief executive, Shayne Elliott.

"It's pleasing to appoint somebody with Kevin's proven banking experience and strong values to this critical role that provides independent and objective assurance to the board and management team," said Elliott.
