Asian Insurer Names New CEO

The firm covers a wide array of private and corporate risk, ranging from investment management to golf injuries.
MSIG, the general insurer catering to individuals and companies, has appointed Craig Ellis as its new chief executive, taking effect from yesterday. He replaces Michael Gourlay, who leaves to pursue his personal interests.
Ellis has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, mainly in insurance covering general, life and health, and also in banking. Ellis held senior positions in Allianz, Old Mutual and Charles Monat Associates where he was CEO of the Singapore office, and most recently global head of product and solutions before joining MSIG.
Gourlay led MSIG Singapore for four years and has been with the group for over 40 years. Prior to leading MSIG Singapore, he was with the Singapore-based regional office, MSIG Asia as executive vice president, overseeing regional business development and underwriting in eight markets in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
MSIG's commercial insurance areas include cyber-security risks and investment management. On the personal side, risks covered include the chances of sustaining a serious golf injury.
