BNY Mellon cements its plans to expand its geographical coverage with a new head of Middle East and Africa in its Investment Management EMEA division.

Based in Dubai, Imad Abukhlal will have responsibility for the management of all business capabilities across the region.

Abukhlal has spent the past 18 years as an investment manager. He moves from Western Asset Management where he headed the firm’s Dubai office and served as senior executive officer.

During his time at WAMCO, he established the firm’s Middle East business, as well as leading the distribution, client service and marketing for the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

In his new role, BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA hopes he can continue to gain further institutional clients, as well as taking charge of the region’s investment management team.

He will report to the firm’s chief executive of asset management EMEA and global head of distribution, PeterPaul Pardi.

Abukhlal’s appointment comes in the middle of BNY Mellon’s recruitment drive in America, with almost daily senior hires.
