C-Suite Moves For Asia, Europe At Aberdeen Investments

A number of senior executive moves have been announced by the UK-headquartered firm, which operates in a number of regions including Asia and parts of mainland Europe.

Aberdeen Investments has appointed former BNY senior figure Parker Wertz as chief financial officer for its asset management business. He reports to Xavier Meyer, CEO for investments and Siobhan Boylan, group chief financial officer of Aberdeen Plc.

Wertz has more than 20 years of experience across finance and corporate strategy. At BNY, he held dual roles as head of finance for BNY International and CFO for Newton Investment Management. Earlier in his career, Wertz also served in senior positions at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

In other moves, Aberdeen has named Steven Maguire as chief operating and transformation officer for Asia-Pacific, joining from Prudential plc. Most recently he served as global head of technology for the technology product portfolio and held senior leadership positions spanning group strategy and business transformation. Based in Singapore, he reports to Alain Courbebaisse, COO – Investments, and Ian Macdonald, CEO, Asia-Pacific.

In Europe, David Hanzl has been appointed general manager/CEO, Germany. Based in Frankfurt, Hanzl reports to Mandy Rawlinson, head of UK and EMEA. He is relocating from Hong Kong, where he previously served as head of wholesale, APAC at Aberdeen Investments. Prior to joining Aberdeen in 2021, Hanzl was regional operating officer for UBS Asset Management for seven years.

A few days earlier, Aberdeen said it had appointed Vivian Tang as head of the APAC client group.

The firm manages £48 billion ($64.4 billion) in assets (as at the end of 2025) across emerging market and Asia strategies.
