Charles Monat Recruits Industry Executive As Singapore CEO

Formerly at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Private Client Services, this executive played a key role driving development of HNW business in Southeast Asia, his new firm said.
Swiss-Asia life insurance brokerage firm Charles Monat Group has appointed senior industry executive Martin Wong senior to its operational committee, taking effect on 5 November 2018.
Wong will join the firm as Singapore chief executive as well as become a partner and shareholder for the group, subject to regulatory clearance, it said in a statement. Wong will be responsible for managing and expanding the Charles Monat business in Southeast Asia covering the international business and new domestic markets. He will report to Yves Guélat, group CEO.
Prior to this role, Wong worked at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Private Client Services where he served since 2010 as general manager, deputy chief executive, and then as chief executive for Singapore. He led expansion of high net worth business at the firm, opening new domestic offices in Southeast Asia. Wong also served as vice president at Merrill Lynch, based in New York, US. He is also a regular speaker at private banking and insurance forums.
“Since our Management buyout, Charles Monat has added close to 70 new experts across our global operations and we will continue to recruit the best talents to keep up with our strong sales momentum,” Guélat said.
The firm also made internal promotions including those of Ray Ang to chief sales officer, Nikki Koh to chief distribution officer, Lee Eik Hong to sales operations leader, both Katherine Ho and Shawn Lim to sales team leaders.
