Chinese Offshore Firm Opens Singapore Office

It will offer China access strategies, as well as equities and fixed income strategies targeted at financial institutions, sovereigns, corporates and family offices.
CSOP Asset Management, one of the largest Chinese offshore asset managers and known for its RMB Qualified Institutional Investor role, has opened an office in Singapore.
The firm said that it is the first offshore asset manager set up by a regulated asset management company in China to establish operations in Singapore. It will offer China access strategies, as well as equities and fixed income strategies targeted at financial institutions, sovereigns, corporates and family offices.
The Singapore operation will initially focus on building a sustainable family office/external asset management business in the region. In future, the Singapore office will build a portfolio management team and explore Shariah-compliant investment products, a statement from CSOP said.
“Local presence gets us closer to our existing clients in this region. More importantly, it enables us to gain more in-depth knowledge about the market and consequently helps us better present our China investment intelligence and investment opportunities to the investors in this region,” Ding Chen, chief executive of CSOP AML, said.
