Citigroup Names Asia Cluster Heads

The US bank has made a number of senior appointments across North, East and Southeast Asia.
Citigroup has named Tim Monger as head of the North and East Asia cluster and Amol Gupte as head of the South Asia and ASEAN cluster, with immediate effect.
Monger has served as chief financial officer for Asia-Pacific since 2019, helping set its strategic agenda and guiding the firm's investment priorities. In the last year, he has taken on a leadership role in executing its strategy refresh through the spin-offs of the consumer banking businesses in the EMEA and Asian regions. Monger joined the US banking group in 2017 as head of productivity from Boston Consulting Group where he was a partner and head of UK financial services.
Gupte has held senior positions in Asia for banking and country management for more than three decades at Citigroup. He has served as Singapore chief country officer and ASEAN head since 2016. Prior to that, Gupte served in several senior treasury and trade solutions' roles globally, including as head of the Asia-Pacific business. He started his career with Citi in the consumer bank in India.
Chief country officers for Australia, China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan will report to Monger, and the CCOs for India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will report to Gupte.
The bank said in a memo – seen by this news service – that it will post the CCO role for Singapore shortly. Monger will continue as CFO for the region until his successor is announced and the role will also be posted, the memo said.
In April Citigroup appointed Angel Ng as head of Asia-Pacific global wealth management.
