Credit Suisse Appoints Former UBS Man As China COO

The role is a newly-created position, the Swiss bank said, as it continues to build out operations in the country.
Credit Suisse has appointed Alan Wang, formerly of UBS, as chief operating officer for China, this news service can report. The role is a newly-formed one.
Wang will work with the bank’s businesses and corporate functions to ensure that Credit Suisse’s strategic plans are delivered smoothly.
At UBS, Wang – who joined in 2020 – had been China “integration lead”. He has almost 20 years’ regulatory experience, having previously worked at People’s Bank of China, China Banking Regulatory Commission and China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, where he was most recently Shanghai Bureau deputy director of foreign bank branches supervision.
“Alan’s appointment highlights our continued efforts to strengthen our China onshore franchise. Alan will play a key role in ensuring we deliver a coordinated and effective operating platform that drives our China franchise,” Zhenyi Tang, chief executive for China at Credit Suisse, said.
