The figure is an eminent figure in Singapore's business scene.

DBS Group has appointed Gautam Banerjee (main picture), a top-ranking figure at Blackstone, a US-listed investment group, to its boards of DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank, with effect from yesterday.

Banerjee is chairman and senior managing director of Blackstone Singapore. Prior to this, he spent more than 30 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, including nine years as executive chairman of PwC Singapore before retiring from the firm in December 2012, DBS said in a statement.

He serves on the boards of Singapore Telecommunications and GIC Private Limited. His previous appointments include directorships of Singapore Airlines, Piramal Enterprises and Defence Science and Technology Agency, as well as the chairmanship of Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise.

“Gautam brings extensive experience advising businesses and serving on major boards. Over the course of his career, he has developed deep expertise in governance, risk oversight and long-term value creation,” DBS chairman Peter Seah said. “His perspectives will further strengthen the board as DBS continues to navigate an increasingly complex operating environment and deliver sustainable growth."
