EXCLUSIVE: Asian Bank's Chief Economist Heads West

The chief economist of the private bank has been at the institution since 2011, and is moving to London for a new advisory role at the firm.

The chief economist of Bank of Singapore, Richard Jerram, is stepping down from a position that he has held since the summer of 2011, this publication can exclusively report. He will move to London.

“Our chief economist Richard Jerram is relocating to London for family reasons. He is currently serving his notice. Thereafter, he will serve as a consultant in the role of a senior economic advisor to help the bank identify key economic changes and their impacts,” a spokesperson told WealthBriefingAsia today.

Prior to Bank of Singapore, Jerram was head of Asian economics at Macquarie Capital Securities (Singapore) Pte (November 2009 to July 2011) and before that, chief economist at the same firm. He was also chief economist for ING Securities (Japan), from 1996 to 2004, according to his Linkedin profile.

Bank of Singapore recently officially launched its wealth management subsidiary, BOS Wealth Management Europe - reflecting a trend of Asian banks pushing into the European market. It has new offices in London and Luxembourg.
