With a career spanning more than three decades, the senior executive – a native Australian – will focus on Asia-Pacific and international markets.

Investment firm KKR has appointed Roy Gori (main picture), former president and CEO of Manulife, as a senior advisor.

Gori, a prominent figure in the global insurance and financial services industry, will advise KKR on strategic opportunities across global financial services and insurance with a focus on Asia-Pacific and international markets. He will provide strategic counsel across insurance, wealth management, banking, distribution, and related financial services platforms, KKR said in a statement. 

Based now in Ontario, Canada – according to his public profile – Gori has three decades of leadership experience covering wealth management, insurance and retail financial services in APAC, North America, and other regions. He was president and CEO of Manulife from 2017 until he retired in 2025. He began his career at Citibank in 1989, rising to lead the firm’s Asia-Pacific retail business, including its insurance and wealth management operations.

Gori holds a bachelor of economics and finance from The University of New South Wales and an MBA from the University of Technology, Sydney. A native Australian, Gori has worked and lived in Sydney, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Toronto.
