Fortress Names New Heads Of Private Wealth Solutions For Japan, EMEA

The appointments mark the start of the international expansion of Fortress Investment Group's private wealth solutions business beyond the US and Latin America.

New York-headquartered Fortress Investment Group has appointed Yuko Umino as head of private wealth solutions for Japan and Harry Bush as head of private wealth solutions for EMEA.

Umino and Bush will lead the expansion of Fortress's private wealth solutions business into Japan and EMEA respectively. Both will report to Adam Bobker and Nils Wilson, global co-heads of private wealth solutions.

Fortress launched its private wealth solutions business in 2022 to formalise its offerings for individual investors. Since then, the business has expanded to offer high net worth individuals a range of evergreen investment products across credit, real estate and net lease strategies, the firm said in a statement.

The EMEA and Japan appointments will extend the platform internationally, bringing local leadership and distribution expertise to markets where demand for access to private markets is accelerating.

Umino, who is based in Tokyo, joined Fortress in March 2026 from PIMCO Japan, where she was a senior vice president in the Japan global wealth management team, delivering investment solutions to wealth management clients in Japan. She brings more than 25 years of experience in Japanese financial services, having begun her career in fixed income institutional sales at JP Morgan Securities Japan.

Based in London, Bush is joining from Nuveen, where he was most recently head of EMEA strategic accounts. At Nuveen, Bush led the build-out of the company’s UK wealth business, with a focus on private markets. He previously held UK wholesale and wealth distribution positions at Allianz Global Investors and Neptune Investment Management (now Liontrust Asset Management).

“Capital flows in wealth are being reshaped by a powerful confluence of factors – a generational transfer of wealth, the increasing mobilisation of household savings, pension reforms in markets across the globe, broader access to private markets products, and rapid technological advances in financial services,” Bobker said. “Yuko and Harry bring the local market knowledge and experience that we believe a credible wealth franchise depends on, and we’re excited to welcome them to our team.”

The firm highlighted that Japan and Europe are both underpenetrated markets for investment products: cash and deposits account for approximately half of household wealth in Japan, about 40 per cent in Europe, and less than 10 per cent in the US.

“As reforms and innovation are beginning to spur changes in how individuals invest their savings in Europe and Japan, we believe that now is a strong entry point for our business in these markets,” added Wilson. “Through Yuko’s and Harry’s dedicated leadership in Tokyo and London, we will more quickly be able to bring Fortress's investment capabilities to wealth investors beyond our existing focus markets of the USA and Latin America.”

Products created and managed by Fortress Private Wealth Solutions and its affiliates will be distributed through agreements with leading wirehouses, private banks, registered investment advisors (RIAs), and independent broker/dealers.

Founded in 1998, Fortress manages $55 billion of assets under management across a range of credit and real estate, private equity and permanent capital investment strategies.
