Franklin Templeton Launches All-Weather Bond Fund

This publication brings latest news of product launches in the world's wealth management sector.
Franklin Templeton Investments has launched the Flexible Alpha Bond Fund, a sub-fund of Franklin Templeton Investment Funds, a Luxembourg-registered SICAV.
The fund aims to navigate fixed income risks through a mix of current income and capital appreciation in excess of the LIBOR 90 Day (USD) benchmark over a full market cycle. Portfolio managers will have the freedom to invest across all sectors of fixed income of any country, sector, quality, maturity or duration, and without reference to a benchmark index, the firm said.
“Given the current declining interest rate environment in Europe and the general increased market risk, there has been a rapidly growing demand for an alternative to traditional core fixed income mandates that don’t rely solely on interest rate movements for performance,” said the fund’s co-lead manager, Michael Materasso, senior vice president and co-chair of the Franklin Templeton fixed income policy committee.
The fund managers can actively employ long and short positions to navigate market cycles and tactically manage broad market risks from interest rate, credit, currency and country exposures.
Franklin Templeton Investments provides global and domestic investment management to retail, institutional and sovereign wealth clients. The firm had approximately $714 billion in assets under management as of 29 February 2016.
