Goldman Sachs PWM Names New North Asia Head

There's a change at the top of the North Asia business for the US firm's North Asia business.

Goldman Sachs has confirmed to WealthBriefingAsia that it has appointed Ling Pong (pictured below) as the head of private wealth management for North Asia, filling the vacancy left by Nick Yim, who has retired after working at the US financial powerhouse for more than 30 years.

Pong will take on additional responsibilities as the head of the North Asian region at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. She will continue to serve as head of PWM capital markets, equity structuring and managed strategies in Asia-Pacific. She joined the firm in 2006 and was named managing director in 2010 and partner in 2024.

“She will focus on driving growth and deepening client relationships throughout North Asia,” a spokesperson for the firm told WBA when asked about the matter.

Yim, who has been based in Hong Kong, joined the US firm in 1994 and led the China market for Goldmans' PWM Asia-Pacific business; he became leader for the North Asia position over 10 years ago.
