HSBC's Private Bank, Premier Wealth Arm Gets New CIO For Asia

The newly-appointed CIO has two decades' experience in the banking industry.
HSBC has appointed Desmond Kuang (main picture) as chief investment officer for Asia, at the HSBC Private Bank and Premier Wealth arms. The appointment takes effect from 6 July this year, it said in a statement.
Kuang, based in Singapore, will be responsible for developing regional investment strategies and themes across all asset classes for private banking and premier clients in the region, excluding Hong Kong.
With two decades’ experience in the banking sector, Huang is chief investment officer, China and interim head of wealth and premier solutions for China. He will continue in these roles until the bank names his successors.
“As wealth continues to grow rapidly in Asia, clients and investors are seeking timely and actionable investment insights to pursue their wealth goals,” Willem Sels, global chief investment officer, HSBC Private Bank and Premier Wealth, said.
In his new role, Huang will report to Sels and Ishan Sarkar, head of wealth and premier solutions in Singapore.
