HSBC Names Global UHNW Solutions Head

The new appointee – taking up the role in August – comes from Citibank, and has also worked at Barclays, Credit Suisse and Commerzbank.

HSBC has appointed Irene Hy Chen as global head of its ultra-high net worth solutions arm – part of the bank’s wealth and personal banking business.

Chen will be based in Hong Kong, joining on 1 August from Citibank where she was most recently head of cross-asset solutions for Asia, responsible for providing structured solutions for high net worth and ultra-HNW clients and family offices.

In her new role, Chen will report to Karl Faivre, head of investment and wealth solutions in EMEA (ex-UK) and Switzerland.

In her Citibank job, Chen led the partnership with global markets, investment banking and corporate banking divisions to offer institutional solutions in structured financing across liquid and illiquid assets, equity cycle solutions, direct private investment, capital markets and strategic risk solutions, clients. Before that, she led the structured products and derivatives business at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management for the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa markets. She has also worked at Credit Suisse and Commerzbank.
