HSBC Private Bank Makes Splash Of US Appointments Days After Posting Lackluster Results

The private banking group of HSBC appears to be on a hiring drive, shortly after the unit posted underwhelming figures for the first half of 2017.

HSBC's private bank has made four new Americas regional appointments, just days after the unit posted disappointing first-half results

Steve Simon has joined as regional head of credit advisory. He is responsible for enhancing the group's position in the private banking space, and will particularly focus on developing product offerings. He has more than 35 years' experience, and has worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup earlier in his career.

Alex Catterick has been named alternative product specialist. He oversees the firm's alternative product offering in the Americas region. He also manages relationships with third-party alternative funds offered through HSBC Private Banking's platform and coordinates road-shows and investor updates. He has more than 21 years' experience.

Meanwhile, Vincent Fontana has been brought over from BNY Mellon Asset Management to take on the role of regional fixed income product specialist. Responsible for the fixed income product, he has a particular focus on developing portfolio design and performance analytics. He has more than 15 years' experience.

Finally, Vikram Singh has joined as regional structured product specialist. He is tasked with developing product offerings and performance. He has six years' experience and has held a variety of roles covering derivative-based hedge and monetization strategies, as well as structured investment solutions for institutional and high net worth clients.
