There is a new CEO for the Singapore and Southeast Asia region now that the previous CEO, who held the post for three years, has moved to a European position.
JP Morgan Asset Management has appointed Ayaz Ebrahim as Singapore and South East Asia chief executive – subject to regulatory approval.
He will be taking over from Sherene Ban, who is moving to to Europe to become head of Continental Europe Institutional, the asset management business, part of JP Morgan, said in a statement on Friday.
Ebrahim, who will be based in Singapore, is currently a portfolio manager and co-head of the Asia-Pacific regional team within emerging markets and APAC equities (EMAP). Retaining his investment responsibilities, Ebrahim will be deepening client relationships and building on the firm’s strong growth momentum in Singapore and SEA. Currently a portfolio manager and co-head of the APAC regional team within the EMAP team, Ebrahim will report to Dan Watkins, APAC chief executive, and Anuj Arora, head of EMAP equities team, JP Morgan Asset Management
Ebrahim, who joined the firm in 2015, previously served in various leadership roles at Amundi, HSBC and Deutsche Bank.
“After over three years leading our Singapore and SEA business, Ms Ban has cultivated an exceptional team and established JPMAM as a trusted partner for our clients, contributing significantly to the firm’s success in the region. We look forward to continuing to partner with Sherene in her new capacity,” Watkins said.
