Julius Baer Appoints New Greater China Singapore Head

The senior figure, who moved to Singapore from Hong Kong in 2020, has also worked at Credit Suisse and HSBC.

Julius Baer has appointed Benjamin Sim as group head for Greater China Singapore.

Effective from 1 June, Sim’s appointment will leave his existing role – deputy branch manager for Singapore – unaffected. Andreas Zingg, Asia chief operating officer, is taking over as COO for Singapore alongside his existing responsibilities, the Zurich-listed banking group said in a statement.

Sim, based in Singapore, will report to Yee Kim Tan, market head for Greater China Singapore. He will be taking over the role from Tan Yee Kim who was promoted to market head Greater China Singapore on 1 January 2024, a spokesperson for the bank told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the matter.

In a number of senior roles at Julius Baer since joining in 2016, Sim relocated to Singapore in 2020 from Hong Kong, where he was COO in the city. Prior to joining Julius Baer, Sim worked at Credit Suisse and HSBC.

“With his leadership, we aim to enhance our market position, expand our client base and drive innovation in this important market, solidifying Julius Baer’s position as a leading wealth manager in the region. This also reflects our dedication to internal mobility, showcasing talent within Julius Baer,” Yee Kim Tan, said.

Last week the bank announced that it has opened its new office at One@Changi City, part of an expanded commitment to Singapore. In July 2023 Julius Baer moved to a new office in Aerocity, New Delhi, part of a five-year strategy to ramp up operations in India. In April last year it also opened a new office in Two Taikoo Place, Hong Kong.
