Lombard International Zooms In On Asia With New CEO, Expansion

The provider of life insurance-based wealth solutions for wealthy investors is to open its first offices in Asia and has appointed leadership for the region.

Lombard International has hired Tammy Lu Tsui as chief executive of the Asia region and will open two new brokerage offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Tsui brings over 20 years of industry experience, with a focus on the high and ultra-high net worth markets. She was most recently deputy chairman in Greater China for Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, having previously served as regional managing director of private risk at AON.

In the newly-created role, Tsui will be based in Hong Kong.

The company, which has head offices in Luxembourg and Philadelphia, has over $75 billion in global assets under administration. The new subsidiaries, subject to regulatory approval, will be named Lombard International Hong Kong and Lombard International Singapore.

“Tammy brings an extensive network of long-standing relationships and deep expertise in the Asian insurance and wealth management market. Under her leadership, the group’s expansion into Asia represents a significant step for Lombard International’s strategic ambitions globally,” said Ken Kilbane, executive vice president, global distribution at Lombard International.

“Benefitting from her extensive experience and reputation in the market, we are well placed to start recruiting high quality brokers that specialise in the high and ultra-high net worth markets, as well as to lay the foundations for future expansion in Asia beyond Hong Kong and Singapore.”

Lombard International is among a number of firms operating in the private placement insurance sector, a channel through which HNW individuals can protect wealth in insurance-style structures. For more on this business area and its use in wealth management, see here
