Mercer Acquires Japanese Alternative investments Firm

The global firm has added a Japanese alternative investments house to its business.

Mercer has acquired BFC Asset Management Co, the Japanese alternative investment management house.

The financial price of the transaction wasn’t disclosed.

“The acquisition strengthens Mercer’s presence in Japan and enhances the firm’s ability to address the growing alternative investments needs of Japanese institutional investors,” Mercer, part of US-headquartered Marsh & McLennan, said in a statement yesterday.

“They [BFC] are an ideal complement to Mercer’s nearly 40 year history of strength and success in the provision of strategic investment advice in Japan,” Tatsuya Kamoi, chief executive of Japan and Far East Zone for Mercer, said.

BFC Asset Management Co was set up 12 years ago.
