Monroe Capital Expands Into Australian Market

The firm is headquartered in Chicago and has, since its founding 21 years ago, served clients in the US and Canada.

Monroe Capital has appointed Galen Fu, director for business development, as the firm expands its platform to Australia.

Fu (pictured), who will be based in the firm’s Sydney office, will be responsible for client servicing and capital raising across Australia, Monroe Capital said in a statement.

Established in 2004, the business is headquartered in Chicago and has 11 offices throughout the US, Asia and Australia.

Fu has more than 14 years of experience in capital raising, portfolio management and banking in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his new post, he was a director in the capital markets team at Hines Investment Management where he was responsible for business development and investor relations across Australia. Before that, he served in roles at MaxCap Investment Management (a subsidiary of Apollo Global Management), Westpac Bank and ANZ Bank. He earned his BA in commerce and economics from the University of New South Wales.

The business specialises in private credit markets across various strategies, including direct lending, technology finance, venture debt, opportunistic, structured credit, real estate and equity. It serves clients in the US and Canada.
