Morningstar Appoints Asian Equity Research Director

The Chicago-headquartered investment research provider has hired Standard and Poor's ex-equity research head within its Singapore office.
Morningstar has appointed Lorraine Tan as director of equity research in Asia.
Tan brings 20 years' experience in equity research and led Standard and Poor’s equity research business in Asia from 2000 to 2014. She takes on the newly-created role to lead 11 equity analysts in Hong Kong and Shenzhen and oversee Morningstar’s Asian equity research, which includes company reports, industry and sector research, along with qualitative ratings. She will be based in Singapore.
“She has significant experience in Asia’s financial services industry, deep knowledge of the region’s stock markets, and strong skills in analysing stocks,” said Morningstar’s chief executive for Asia, Nick Cheung.
“Her expertise will enhance our equity research offerings to local investors to help them make better investing decisions.”
Morningstar employs around 100 equity analysts worldwide who cover approximately 1,400 stocks.
