New CEO At Robeco Institutional Asset Management

The asset management arm of the Europe-headquartered firm, which has offices in Asia, has a new CEO.

Robeco Institutional Asset Management, part of the Netherlands-based group Robeco, which recently opened an office in Singapore, has appointed a new chief executive.

The CEO is Gilbert Van Hassel. He is also appointed chairman of the management board of Robeco as of 19 September.

Van Hassel has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, mainly in asset and wealth management, working in Europe, Asia and the US. Until 2013 he was global CEO of ING Investment Management. Before joining ING in 2007 he made his career at JP Morgan in various executive roles in Europe, Asia and the US.

In his new role he takes over from Leni Boeren, who will leave the company after the handover has been completed and successors have been appointed for her other board positions within Robeco Group.

In July, Robeco opened a new office in Singapore, focused on credit research. Maurice Meijers, client portfolio manager fixed income for the Asian markets, heads the office.
