Nomura IWM Appoints Senior Ex-UBS Figure

Nomura has been building its wealth activities outside Japan.

The international wealth management arm of Nomura has appointed a long-standing former UBS figure, Etienne Broussaud, as managing director to head its Southeast Asia and Middle East (SEAMEA) lending and credit solutions team. He is based in Singapore.

Broussaud will report to Sudhir Nemali, chief operating officer and head of lending and credit solutions at the firm.

Prior to joining the Japanese firm, Broussaud worked at UBS, most recently as MD for strategic equity solutions trading for Asia-Pacific at the Swiss firm’s investment bank. Before this, he held senior positions at UBS Wealth Management, where he was responsible for structured lending and risk solutions for Southeast Asia and the bank’s Asia Pacific hub. Before UBS, Broussaud was with corporate debt restructuring in the corporate and investment banking department of Societe Generale.

Broussaud holds an MSc in business management from EDHEC Graduate School of Management, France.

Nomura has been building its wealth activities outside Japan. For example, at the end of last year, it announced that it had opened its new international wealth management premises in the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Among other developments, in late July 2025, Nomura appointed Harish Hemandas as managing director and senior executive officer and head of coverage for the Middle East and Europe; in November 2025, the bank appointed Julia Wang – formerly of JP Morgan and HSBC – as its North Asia chief investment officer. This was a new position for Nomura.
