RBC Global Asset Management Adds Four To Its Advisory Solutions Group

The Royal Bank of Canada's said its latest series of hires demonstrates its burgeoning footprint in the US professional buyer marketplace.
RBC Global Asset Management has appointed four new hires to its advisory solutions group.
Edward Bernson joins as associate director of advisory solutions and will be responsible for developing relationships and representing RBC GAM's investment strategies to financial intermediaries. Prior to joining the bank, Bernson work with Putnam Investments, a Boston-based privately-owned investment manager, as an international wholesaler.
Charleen Sheehan will assume the role of associate director of advisory solutions, where she will be accountable for maintaining relationships and illustrating RBC GAM's investment strategies to financial intermediaries. Prior to joining the Toronto-and Montreal-headquartered firm earlier this year, she also worked with Bernson at Putnam Investments as an internal wholesaler.
David Smith will become director of advisory solutions and will develop relationships while representing RBC GAM's investment strategies in the Midwest region. Prior to joining the group, he worked as an external relationship manager at Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse. He kick-started his career in the investments industry in 2008 and also worked at William Blair and American Funds in earlier years.
Alexandra Zhmakina joins as junior associate director of advisory solutions. In her new role, she will act as an internal wholesaler and will support external wholesalers to identify, research and approach clients.
The series of new hires will join the bank's US-based advisory team of 10 professionals, RBC GAM said in a statement.
"Today's announcement is the latest demonstration of how we're growing our footprint in the professional buyer marketplace across the US,” said Matthew Applestein, head of distribution at RBC GAM.
