RBC Wealth Management In Asia Creates COO Role

The COO has served in a number of roles at the Canada-based bank, which he joined in 2008.
RBC Wealth Management has appointed Kamran (Kam) Azim as chief operating officer for the Asia wealth management business. He is based in Singapore and the appointment took effect from 1 November. The role is a new one at the bank, RBC told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the matter.
Reporting to Terence Chow, CEO, RBC Wealth Management Asia, Azim will develop and implement strategic growth initiatives in the region and focus on business management and front office support functions for increasingly complex client needs. He will also serve as deputy CEO, RBC Singapore branch, the firm said in a statement.
“Amid this prolonged spell of instability, insecurity and economic turbulence, our globally connected clients are looking for a strong and stable partner with compelling solutions, robust operations and the ability to adapt quickly to the changing times. Kam brings tremendous leadership, execution and business experience to his new role and we are delighted to welcome him back to the region,” Chow said.
Since joining the bank in 2008, Azim has worked in various capacities with RBC – in finance, capital markets, private banking, products and strategy. Prior to his new role, Azim was vice president and head of global credit and cash management, based in Toronto, Canada. He has spent time leading RBC Wealth Management’s credit team from Singapore. He has also worked in the UK where he led the regional lending team.
