Royal Bank Of Canada Names New Group Head Of Wealth Management

RBC has today announced change at the top of its global wealth management and insurance businesses.

Doug Guzman, managing director and head of global investment banking of RBC Capital Markets, has been appointed as group head of wealth management and insurance, effective November 1, 2015, the firm said today.

Guzman will succeed George Lewis, who will stay at RBC as a senior portfolio manager within global asset management.

As group head, Guzman will be responsible for the strategy and performance of wealth management in Canada and internationally, including global asset management and RBC's insurance business.

He will report to Dave McKay, RBC's president and CEO, and will become a member of the firm's group executive, which sets the overall strategic direction of the bank.

Guzman will also become deputy chair of RBC Capital Markets, and remain as the lead relationship manager with certain key clients.

Lewis and Guzman will work together closely over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition, RBC said.

John Taft is CEO of RBC Wealth Management in the US.
