Sciens Fund of Funds Management Holdings, an arm of the Sciens Capital Management Group, has hired  Alex Allen as a senior portfolio manager for its hedge funds business.

Allen, who will be based in the London office, will report to Stavros Siokos, president of the Sciens fund of hedge funds and the managed account platform businesses.

Previously, Allen was a co-founder and chief investment officer of UK-listed Eddington Capital Management, where he managed the Eddington macro opportunities fund.

He also managed two Eddington flagship products, including the Eddington Macro Opportunities Fund. Prior to this, he was portfolio manager for hedge funds at EFG Asset Management, from 1999 to 2003.

Sciens Capital Management is an independent alternative asset manager with $5.7 billion in assets under management in funds of hedge funds, advisory, private equity and real assets.

The firm’s principal offices are based in New York, London, Guernsey and Zurich.
