Singapore's Lion Global Investors Appoints New Chairman

The senior financial sector figure has worked in the industry for more than four decades. He has been CEO for Eastspring Investment Group for example, and held senior positions at institutions such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Lion Global Investors, part of Singapore-based OCBC, has appointed Seck Wai Kwong as its new chairman. Lion's previous chairman was Khor Hock Seng who was also the previous Great Eastern Group CEO; he retired on 31 October 2024.

Seck Wai Kwong brings with him more than 40 years of experience in the financial services sector. He retired as the CEO of Eastspring Investment Group in August 2023. Prior to Eastspring, he was CEO, Asia-Pacific, of State Street Bank and Trust Company from 2011 to 2019. He has also held senior positions in the Singapore Exchange, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, GIC, Lehman Brothers and DBS Bank. Seck was conferred the Public Service Medal in 2017, the Public Service Star in 2023 and was appointed to the Public Service Commission in February 2024.  

Seck is a board director of OCBC and GIC. He is also a trustee and chairs the investment committee at the Ministry of Home Affairs Uniformed Services INVEST Fund in Singapore. 

Among other details, Seck holds a master of business administration (with distinction) from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of economics (first class honours) from Australia’s Monash University where he is a Monash Fellow.

Lion Global Investors was founded in 1986; as of 31 March 2025, assets under management stood at S$71.8 billion ($55.7 billion).
