Standard Chartered Adds To Global CIO Team

The UK-listed bank has added a raft of people to the team, it announced yesterday.

Standard Chartered has made five hires to join its global chief investment office team: Robin Xie (senior investment strategist), Cindy Lam (senior investment strategist) and Ryan Goh (investment strategist) have joined the equity strategy team.

Xie has joined from PineBridge Investments where he was managing equity portfolios. Based in Singapore, he will focus on developing opportunistic ideas. 

Lam brings more than 10 years of experience covering various equity sectors in the sell-side and at Bloomberg. Based in Hong Kong, Lam will be communicating the firm's equity views locally as well as crafting regional views within the Asia ex-Japan market. 

Goh, who is joining from the CIO group at UBS, will focus on investment content, global tech portfolio and research on new portfolios.

Vincent Tan is joining as a senior investment strategist covering foreign exchange. He will be responsible for developing medium-term forex strategy by translating macroeconomic developments and CIO views into investment perspectives. Tan, who has more than 30 years of experience across global financial markets, has held senior positions in private banking, investment advisory and portfolio management with leading international financial institutions.

Jay Harindrar is joining as an investment strategist to support the expansion of the bank’s CIO offering in the alternatives space, covering private markets and hedge fund strategies. He was previously with Blackrock where he supported fundraising in private markets.

Xie, Lam and Goh report to Fook Hien Yap, senior investment strategist; additionally, Tan reports to Jonathan Liang, CIO for fixed income and foreign exchange, and Harindra reports to Manpreet Gill, who is a member of the bank’s group investment council and an advisor to its discretionary portfolio management division.
