Standard Chartered Builds Out Private Bank's Greater China, Regional Reach

The newly-appointed figure will grow another team to support Greater China clients, in addition to StanChart's existing team. His responsibility also embraces growing the regional business, including Southeast Asia.
Standard Chartered has appointed former Bank of Singapore figure Hu Hong as group market head in its private bank. He will focus on growing a new Greater China team, the lender said yesterday.
Hu Hong’s responsibility also includes expanding the regional business, including Southeast Asia.
Based in Singapore, Hu Hong reports to Foo Tian Ong, regional head, Southeast Asia and Singapore location head, Standard Chartered Global Private Bank.
The role is a newly-formed one by the bank, a spokesperson told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the matter.
“This appointment aligns with the development of our Greater China franchise in Singapore,” the UK-listed bank said in a statement.
At Bank of Singapore, Hu Hong managed three market heads and a team of 100 frontline staff.
