Standard Chartered In Hong Kong Names Wealth Head

The head of wealth management in Hong Kong joins from Citibank.
Standard Chartered in Hong Kong has named Alson Ho (pictured) as head of wealth management in the jurisdiction. The appointment takes effect immediately.
Ho will report to Lay Choo Ong, head of consumer, private and business banking (CPBB), Hong Kong and Marc Van de Walle, global head, wealth management.
“Wealth management is of strategic importance to our CPBB business in Hong Kong. I am delighted to have Alson joining the team and bringing over 20 years of wealth management experience," Lay Choo Ong, head of CPBB, Hong Kong, said.
Vicky Kong was previously head of wealth management for Greater China and North Asia and she left the bank in January. "As Hong Kong is a big market of strategic importance to our business, we have appointed a dedicated head of wealth management, Hong Kong," a spokesperson told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the matter.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Ho headed the Hong Kong insurance business for Citibank. He first joined Citi in 2006 as a management associate and has developed and deepened his banking career, leading different wealth product teams including deposits, equities and trading and margin products. Ho holds a master of science, financial analysis from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a bachelor of business administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
