November was a busy month for arrivals and departures at a range of wealth management houses across the world in November.
UK moves
LGT Vestra recruited Andrew Cattle and Noel Craven as a wealth
manager and investment manager respectively. Throughout the past
decade, Cattle held numerous senior management and relationship
management positions within Credit Suisse's private banking arm,
leading teams of bankers in both the firm's onshore and offshore
businesses. In recent years, he has been focused on finance
professionals and entrepreneurs. Craven joined from Falcon
Private Wealth, where he worked as UK head of investment
solutions for two years.
Openwork appointed Sarah Alder and Paul Booler as wealth development managers as part of its shift away from generalist support teams towards specialist teams. Alder, previously client relationship director at The Wisdom Council, and Booler, previously regional sales manager at Coram Asset Management, work with Openwork’s product proposition director, Graham Angell, to support the group’s wealth proposition.
WHIreland named Humphrey Percy, chief executive of Kuwaiti European Holding Group, as a non-executive director. Percy, among other previous roles, was global head of futures at ICAP, the brokerage firm, and head of global financial markets at Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.
Lombard Odier Private Bank appointed Mike Edlinger as senior portfolio manager. Edlinger joined the London team after 20 years with Coutts & Co, where he was head of ultra-high net worth portfolio management. He was responsible for investing both onshore and offshore global discretionary and advisory portfolios. The firm also appointed Michael Le Garignon as head of its new independent asset managers (IAM) division in the UK. He joined the London team from Société Générale Securities Services, where he was head of business development, sales and relationship management for the UK and Ireland.
Rowan Dartington, part of St James's Place, hired Oliver Mustin as an investment manager within its Birmingham office. Mustin joined from BRI Wealth Management, where he spent nine years as a private client manager, providing both discretionary and advisory investment management services to private clients, family trusts, charities and pensions.
John Chatfeild-Roberts stepped down as a director of Jupiter Fund
Management. Chatfeild-Roberts, who joined Jupiter 15 years ago,
was on the board for nine years. He served as chief investment
officer from 2010 to 2015. Together with Algy Smith-Maxwell, he
is responsible for creating and managing the company's Jupiter
Merlin multi-manager fund range, which comprises five diversified
portfolios.
Kempen Capital Management appointed Katya Nelyudove and Mili
Parekh to its business development team in London. Nelyudova has
more than 11 years' experience in the financial services
industry, having previously sold independent research to asset
managers in the UK, Nordics, Germany, and Switzerland.
Ravenscroft hired Mark Harries as its new head of investment management in the UK. Harries has more than 30 years of investment experience in asset management and private banking. Most recently, he was the head of manager selection at Aberdeen Asset Management. He has also worked at Cazenove Capital Management and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
Prestige Asset Management appointed Roger Evans as director of international marketing. Evans previously held roles at BNY Mellon, Royal Bank of Scotland, Egg Bank, Aviva Group, and Deloitte. He joins with more than 25 years' experience in independent consulting and advising in both public and private sectors across investment management, retail financial services, professional services, and central government.
Arbuthnot Latham appointed Nick Cringle as private banking director of its North West regional operations, a newly-created role. Cringle joined from Oakmore Investment Partners, an investment boutique offering wealth management services to ultra-high net worth clients, where he was a founding partner.
Central Investment, a Scotland-based financial and professional services firm, promoted Lloyd Davies to associate director. He has worked for almost five years at the company.
Barclays Wealth and Investment Management appointed Ian Aylward
as head of manager and fund selection within its global
investments and solutions team. Aylward joined from Punter
Southall Aspire, a workplace pensions and savings business, where
he was investment director and head of manager research. Prior to
that, he spent several years with Aviva Investors as head of
multi-manager research.
InvestCloud appointed Will Bailey as executive vice president for
Europe and innovation, a newly-created role. Bailey relocates to
London from InvestCloud’s offices in San Francisco.
Psigma Investment Management appointed HSBC Global Asset
Management's former client director, Sanjeev Chopra, as
investment director. Chopra spent the best part of two decades at
HSBC.
Coutts appointed Mike Regan as finance director and a member of
its board, replacing Brian Mulholland who left the business.
Regan joined RBS Global Banking and Markets in 2010 and over the
next four years worked within markets and international banking,
including as head of business risk and control for Europe, Middle
East and Africa banking, head of regulatory developments and head
of strategy for international banking. In 2014, he supported the
transition of the newly appointed finance director to the
commercial and private banking business, before leading the
finance team on cost and capital management for the franchise.
Mulholland joined Coutts in 2014 from RBS where he held roles
including global head of capital planning.
Kames Capital, an Edinburgh-and London-based investment management firm, appointed Rachel Robinson as a senior asset manager within its property team in a newly-created role. Robinson joined from Aviva Investors, where she was an asset manager in the high street retail and shopping centre team and was responsible for implementing strategic retail asset management initiatives.
Financial advisor network Intrinsic appointed Gill Davidson as chief risk officer, replacing Wallace Dobbin, who retired. A founding board member, Dobbin continues with his existing non-executive director commitments and remained with the business while Davidson transitioned into the role.
Davidson served as group regulatory director at advisor network Tenet from 2013. Before that, she worked at Coventry Building Society and Skipton Building Society. Joining the Intrinsic board, Davidson will report to both Intrinsic chief executive Andy Thompson and Old Mutual Wealth chief risk officer Iain Wright.
Neil Anderson, a portfolio manager at Barclays Wealth and Investment, left the business. Anderson joined the bank in 2015 from Brewin Dolphin, where he held the role of investment manager for more than four years, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, he spent three years at WH Ireland as a contracts manager.
Three long-serving employees were promoted to the Tenet Limited board, while the regulatory director stepped down from the Tenet Group board. Joining the Tenet Limited board were head of business systems Martin Gartside as IT director; head of relationship management Steve Jones as advisor relationship director; and head of compliance Mark Thomas as compliance delivery director. Gill Davidson, group regulatory director, stepped down from Tenet Group’s board and was succeeded by Mike O’Brien, group brands director.
St James's Place appointed Brian Galvin as an acquisition manager. Galvin previously worked at Tavistock Financial, where he was managing director.
Kames Capital appointed Phillip Bach as head of active value property, a newly-created role. Bach, with 23 years’ industry experience, joined Kames Capital in 2012 from ING Real Estate, where he was co-head of the direct segregated accounts team. Prior to this, he worked as an asset manager for Jones Lang LaSalle.
Redmayne-Bentley appointed Andrew Dyson as an investment manager within its Henley-on-Thames branch. Dyson joined from Charles Stanley's Reading branch, where he held the role of investment manager and later became interim branch manager.
Impax Environmental Markets appointed Aine Kelly as a director. Aine is an independent consultant specialising in impact investing. She has been a consultant to Big Society Capital, having served as head of financial sector and investor engagement from January 2013 until August 2016.
London-based Architas hired Avni Thakrar as a product specialist.
Thakrar previously spent two years as a director of asset
management solutions at SEI Investments, where she led the
development of new multi-asset income, liquid alternatives and
smart beta fund ranges. She has also served as investment
director at Ingenious Investments and assistant director at Royal
Bank of Scotland.
Investec Wealth & Investment appointed Terry Michael as an
investment director in its Birmingham office. Michael previously
spent seven years as an investment manager at Quilter Cheviot. He
sits on the Birmingham Chartered Institute for Securities &
Investment Committee.
RSM appointed two Royal Bank of Canada directors as private client partners within its London office. Andrew Robins and Rachel de Souza joined from RBC where they were co-directors of the Toronto-and Montreal-headquartered bank's UK tax practice. Both have over 26 years of industry experience and bring expertise in all areas of UK personal taxation, specialising in matters affecting high net worth individuals, non-UK domiciled individuals, non-UK trusts, and members of corporate remuneration plans.
PIMCO hired Kristina Najjar-Wahlgren as a senior vice president to lead business development for the Nordic region. Najjar-Wahlgren joined the London-based team after almost a decade as head of Nordic business development at Aberdeen Asset Management, which she joined in 2004.
RBC Wealth Management in the UK promoted Ben Taylor to the role of managing director of the newly-created segment of wealth transfer and retirees. The segment focuses on clients adjusting their plans and behaviours as they prepare for retirement and hand over money to future generations. Taylor joined RBC Wealth Management, part of Royal Bank of Canada, in 2012 as a relationship manager. Before this, he worked at HSBC.
State Street Global Advisors appointed Malcolm Smith to the newly created role of global SPDR chief operating officer. Smith, a 30-year industry veteran, was most recently interim global COO in the global investments and solutions division of Barclays Wealth and Investment Management. He is based in London. Separately, SSGA has appointed Peter Brackett as its UK head of consultant relations. He joined from European asset manager Amundi, where he was head of global consultant relations.
RC Brown appointed Towry’s Neil Whelan as an investment manager. Whelan joined from Towry Asset Management, where he held the role of investment director in its Bristol office. There, he managed clients in the firm’s bespoke portfolio service and led an investment team managing assets of over £90 million ($113 million). Before Towry, he was investment director at Principle Investment Management, responsible for over 100 clients.
Liontrust hired Ian Chimes as head of global distribution, a newly-created role. Chimes joined from Miton Group, where he was the sales and marketing director. He is based in London and reports to the firm’s chief executive, John Ions.
Rathbones executive director Paul Chavasse was made redundant and handed over his responsibilities to the company's four general managers. He was put on gardening leave, starting from 31 December this year.
Rowan Dartington expanded into Scotland with the appointment of Peter Roper as an investment manager in Edinburgh. Roper joined from Tilney Bestinvest, where he spent five years as director and investment manager.
RadcliffesLeBrasseur hired Paul Lindsey to lead its new practice advising wealthy individuals and families in Wales. Lindsey served as an associate within the firm’s 17-strong private client team. He is based in Cardiff. He joined from Harding Evans, based in South Wales, where he led its trusts and estates team as a senior associate.
The Volantis investment management team, which manages over $1
billion in assets in UK equity long/short and long-only
strategies, joined Lombard Odier Investment Management from
AlphaGen Capital.
Sarasin & Partners, a UK-based firm, appointed Jeremy Thomas as
head of global equities, joining from Allianz Global, where he
managed global and UK equity mandates for over 12 years. His new
role has been freshly created. Before Allianz Global, Thomas
worked at ISIS Management, now F&C, and began his career at
Schroders.
JM Finn & Co appointed Gavin Budd as a senior investment manager in its Cardiff office. Budd joined from Brewin Dolphin’s Bristol office, where he managed discretionary portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and charities.
London & Capital appointed Marc Graveney as chief digital officer. The role replaced that of chief technology officer, previously held by Glenn Murphy, who left the firm. Graveney brings particular experience in managing and developing IT infrastructure at wealth management companies, having held the roles of CTO and head of IT at a managed service provider, a family office and BlueBay Asset Management. At BlueBay, he established an original platform, delivering IT services over a 10-year period.
Switzerland
Deutsche Bank appointed Peter Hinder to succeed Marco Bizzozero
as head of wealth management for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He also became chief executive of the bank's Swiss operation.
Bizzozero stepped down after 12 years with the bank to pursue
other opportunities. Hinder joined last year as chief of staff
for private, wealth and commercial clients, having previously
spent 23 years with UBS.
Falcon Private Bank appointed Arthur Vayloyan as global head of products and services and member of its executive board, based in Zurich. He joined after holding a string of management positions at Credit Suisse, including global head of investment services and products, head of private banking in Switzerland and global head of external asset management.
Julius Baer appointed Laura Hilber as director of its foreign exchange private banking solutions team. She was previously director of UBS's foreign exchange, rates and credit division.
Lombard Odier appointed Joséphine Verine to the newly-created role of chief operating officer, marketing, based in Geneva. She was previously managing director of the haute couture division at Chanel.
Standard Life Investments appointed Julien Boisser as investment
director of its business development team in Switzerland. He
previously oversaw institutional client engagement at
Swiss Life Asset Management. Boisser is part of a five-strong
team based in Geneva.
Lombard International Assurance appointed Gabriel Spirig as head of distribution and business development for Switzerland and Northern Europe. He joined from Credit Suisse where he was global head of the third-party life insurance solutions department. Based in Zurich, Spirig is responsible for developing business in countries such as Germany, Finland, Sweden and Norway, as well as overseeing ongoing relations in Switzerland.
Rest of Europe
Institutional and private client service provider JTC appointed
William Byrne as group general counsel, based in Jersey. A
qualified English barrister, Byrne joined from Jersey Finance,
where he was head of technical.
Unigestion appointed Emanuele Ravano as chairman of its Uni-Global SICAV range, which comprises 13 Unigestion subfunds. Ravano previously spent 13 years as managing director and head of global wealth and portfolio management at PIMCO. He left that role in the summer of last year. Based in Monaco, he supports Unigestion’s distribution plans, specifically in intermediary markets. Ravano replaced Régis Martin in the role.
SKAGEN appointed Øyvind Schanke from Norges Bank Investment Management as chief executive, replacing Leif Ola Rød, who will remain with the firm until March 2017. At NBIM, Schanke was chief investment officer for asset strategies for Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global from 2014. He will take the helm at the beginning of February. Rød has been CEO of the firm since 2014.
Hawksford made four associate director appointments in Jersey. David Hart was named director of the firm’s risk, governance and compliance (RGC) team. Before joining the firm this year, he worked at the Jersey Financial Services Commission for 12 years and served as an independent compliance consultant to trust, investment and insurance businesses.
Hawksford’s money laundering reporting officer, Nicky Longmuir, became an associate director within the RGC team, responsible for advising and supporting the firm on the identification of suspicious activity. Laura Le Meur, who joined Hawksford as a trainee in 2007, became an associate director within the private client team. Keith McSorley joined from ABN AMRO as associate director of funds. Among other roles, he spent eight years as head of private equity fund administration at UBS Jersey. At Hawksford, he focuses on team management as well as developing funds-related policies and procedures and new business opportunities.
Hawksford also appointed Michel van Leeuwen as its new chief executive, replacing Michael Powell, who had been acting CEO. Van Leeuwen, based in Jersey, was previously group CEO of Cordium, a provider of regulatory compliance consulting services to the asset management and securities industry.
THEAM, part of BNP Paribas Investment Partners, hired Sereyjol-Garros, previously Barclays’ institutional client manager for France and Benelux, as marketing director for French-speaking clients in France, Monaco, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium. She reports to Isabelle Bourcier, head of indexing and exchange-traded funds. Meanwhile, Deborah Tempesta, who was most recently part of BNP Paribas’ cash management department within French retail banking, joined as marketing and communication officer.
Prestige Capital Management appointed Jonathan Scott as chief operating officer of its Malta-based investment operations office. Scott has worked at Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas and JP Morgan.
Julius Baer boosted its private banking arm in Guernsey with four senior appointments from Credit Suiss. Andy Phillips, Stefano Bruschini and Tim Bichard joined the bank as executive directors, while Sam Grayland was appointed executive director of the portfolio management team. All four are chartered wealth managers.
ABN AMRO appointed Kees van Dijkhuizen, its chief financial officer, as chief executive, replacing Gerrit Zalm, who is due to step down next year before his term ends. Van Dijkhuizen, who joined ABN AMRO in 2013, will be responsible for executing and delivering the strategic targets announced at the time of the initial public offering in November last year. He will also create the conditions for the Dutch government to further sell down the remaining shareholding.
Standard Chartered Jersey appointed Adam Buxton as head of wealth investments to govern its wealth intermediaries division, replacing Adam Greig who left the firm earlier this year. He previously held roles in custody, banking, investments, and funds and treasury sectors.
Dutch asset manager NN Investment Partners appointed Willem Schramade as senior portfolio manager for impact investing. He joined from Robeco, where he was a global equity analyst focusing on the industrial and materials sectors.
Middle East, Africa
Louvre Group, a firm specialising in international wealth
structuring, fund administration and family office services,
appointed Tom Kimber as corporate manager in its Middle East
business. He previously spent four years with Louvre Trust in
Guernsey as a trust officer. He is based in Dubai.
Old Mutual announced Ralph Mupita, chief executive of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, will leave the group after 16 years to pursue interests outside of the industry. The group has begun its search for a successor and Mupita, based in South Africa, will remain at the helm of OMEM until a replacement is found. Mupita has led the emerging markets business for the past five years.
Asia-Pacific
The regional chief executive of Standard Chartered for the ASEAN
and South Asia area, Ajay Kanwal, resigned with immediate effect,
saying that his recent disclosures about previous personal
investments in firms outside the bank fell short of proper
conduct. Anna Marrs, who is CEO for commercial and private
banking, took on his former role, pending regulatory
clearance.
Kanwal was one of four new regional chiefs appointed by Bill
Winters, group CEO, in a new corporate structure last year.
Reports said he was credited with steadying some of the bank's
operations in the region.
Former DBS Private Bank director Angeline Chong joined UOB Private Bank as executive director, market head for Singapore. Chong had been at DBS Private Bank from October 2010.
Friends Provident International appointed Kevin Stone as regional sales director, based in Singapore.
Stone, who reports to Andrew Waddell, leads the sales function and oversees all key strategic relationships with intermediaries including independent financial advisors, international brokers, banks and third party distributors in Singapore. Previously, Stone was managing director of Charter Financial Planning, Australia’s second-largest financial advisory firm. He has held senior roles at AXA, both in the UK and Australia, and AMP.
Amanda Chen, deputy head of wealth management at Nomura for Asia
ex-Japan for almost the past two years, left the bank. She had
reported into Nobuhiro Sano, head of wealth management, Asia
ex-Japan, who remains with the bank. Chen, who was brought in by
the Japanese banking giant from Morgan Stanley, took up the role
in January 2015. At Morgan Stanley, she was most recently
managing director, private wealth management; she was at the US
firm from 2002 to September 2014, holding a variety of roles in
Singapore and Hong Kong.
As part of the change, Johnny Heng, who has been chief investment
officer for wealth management in Asia ex-Japan, took the role of
head of relationship management at the wealth unit, and Shinichi
Tamai, chief financial officer, will take on additional
responsibilities as chief of staff, wealth management, Asia
ex-Japan. There will be no direct replacement for Chen, and Heng
reports to Sano. Heng’s old CIO role was split, with Vincent Ng
working as joint-CIO from Hong Kong, and Tong Yew Sng as
joint-CIO in Singapore.
Bank J Safra Sarasin appointed former VP Bank Singapore senior manager Peter Bühler as a managing director. He took on a new role at the firm as head of external asset managers and intermediaries, Asia. In this role, Bühler reports to Benedikt Maissen, chief executive, Singapore. He is based at the firm's Singapore Branch. In April, the bank appointed Maissen as CEO, taking over from Eric Morin, who last year joined another Switzerland-based private bank, Union Bancaire Privee, to head up its Asian operations.
UBS Wealth Management appointed Michael Christo as a desk head within its Hong Kong domestic Kowloon team. Previously, Christo was head of the firm's portfolio specialist team in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for marketing the investments, products and services platform to its clients in Greater China. He has been with UBS since 2005.
Withers, the international law firm, hired Asia-focused corporate finance specialist Azlinda Ariffin-Boromand as partner in its London office. She previously worked at Olswang. She has also previously worked at Fasken Martineau and qualified as a barrister.
BlackRock appointed Tom Keenan as head of private banks and wealth distribution for Asia excluding Japan. Keenan has been with BlackRock since 2009 and most recently served as the firm’s head of private bank distribution for Singapore. Before that, he was head of exchange-traded fund specialists for Asia excluding Japan. He is based in Singapore. Keenan replaced Tan Yuan Kueh, who left BlackRock in late September.
BNY Mellon Investment Management appointed Chris Tse as head of intermediary distribution, Hong Kong. The role was a newly-created one. Previously, Tse spent five years as director and regional head of business development within the firm’s Asia division, where he was responsible for leading a team and driving growth across the region.
Fullerton Fund Management appointed Patrick Yeo as chief investment officer, based in Singapore, in addition to his existing role as fixed income head. Yeo joined Fullerton in 2005, and has more than 26 years of investment experience in the areas of fixed income, currency management and interest rate trading. The previous chief executive and CIO was Manraj Sekhon, who left the firm.
Pinebridge Investments, a global asset manager, appointed Jennifer Theunissen to a new role as chief operating officer for Asia. She is based in Hong Kong and reports to global chief operating officer Julian Sluyters and Asia chief executive Rajeev Mittal. Theunissen has more than 18 years of experience in financial services, 11 of which have been spent in Asia. She most recently worked at Deutsche Asset Management in Hong Kong, where she served as its chief operating officer for asset management.
Credit Suisse appointed Rick Meng as managing director and head of private banking, China. Meng has more than 17 years of financial services industry experience across China, Hong Kong and the US. Most recently, he was head of corporate coverage, China, and Shanghai branch manager for the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Eastspring Investments, the $140 billion Asian investment management arm of Prudential Corporation Asia, appointed a former equities chief investment officer at PIMCO as its new CIO. The appointee, Virgini Maisonneuve, reports to chief executive Guy Strapp. Strapp was previously CIO; he stood down from that role to focus on leading the expanded business.
Schroders appointed Sok Mun Wong to the newly-created role of head of fixed income and foreign exchange trading for Asia. She joined from Tudor Capital, where she was a trader and head of the Singapore execution team for the past two years. She is based in Singapore.
UBS appointed Mischa Eckart as its new head of client investment specialists (CIS) in Asia-Pacific, replacing Sean Cochran, who served as global head of ultra-high net worth CIS. Cochran relocated to Switzerland. Evelyn Yeo was appointed to succeed Eckart as head of sales and content distribution for APAC within the bank’s investment products and services distribution management (IPS DM) unit.
Hawksford named a new chief executive, Michel van Leeuwen. He took the helm from Michael Powell, who was acting CEO. Van Leeuwen moved to Jersey. Van Leeuwen held a number of leadership roles at firms such as Cordium and Microsoft Capital Markets. Prior to joining Hawksford, van Leeuwen was group CEO of Cordium, a provider of regulatory compliance consulting services to the asset management and securities industry. Powell, a founding member of the team that performed the management buyout from Rathbones in 2008, continues to focus on delivering his expertise to Hawksford’s clients while remaining a director and member of the board.
Julius Baer appointed Luigi Vignola as global head of structured products, replacing Philipp Rickenbacker. Rickenbacker, who was in charge of structured products for almost seven years, was recently appointed as the bank’s head of advisory solutions and member of the executive board. Vignola joined Julius Baer in 2009 and held positions including head of markets, Asia. From 2014 he has been additionally in charge of markets and advisory solutions in Asia.
IRESS appointed Coran Lill to the new role of group executive for communications and marketing. Lill has a background as a corporate lawyer, business journalist and communications consultant. He most recently consulted to a range of fund managers, banks, insurers and dealer groups as well as to technology companies, including IRESS. Previously, he led the media regulations team at BT Financial Group for years and worked for a public relations agency for communications and marketing. He is based in Sydney.
ABN AMRO appointed Kees van Dijkhuizen, its chief financial officer, as chief executive. He replaced Gerrit Zalm. In September, the bank announced that Zalm, who had been CEO since 2009, did not want to complete his term of office, which expires in May 2018. Van Dijkhuizen joined ABN AMRO in 2013, having previously spent eight years as CFO of NIBC Bank.
Bank J Safra Sarasin appointed Sutarmin Lili as a managing director, client advisory. Lili has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. He previously worked at Julius Baer, Singapore, where he was a managing director from 2010. He joined Julius Baer from UBS. He is based in Singapore and reports to Benedikt Maissen, CEO, Singapore.
Old Mutual International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, appointed former Friends Provident International senior manager Ivy Lee as head of business development for the Hong Kong domestic market. At FPI, Lee was regional sales manager. She has almost 20 years of industry experience in the domestic market; previous employers include Sun Life, Prudential and HSBC.
Fidelity International appointed Ben Waterhouse, who previously led its wholesale sales business in the UK, to a leadership role in Asia. Waterhouse was named head of intermediary business, Southeast Asia and Middle East, and country head in Singapore. He reports to Daisy Ho, MD, Asia ex-Japan. She was appointed to that newly-created role in October. Waterhouse joined Fidelity in August 2010.
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, which is selling its Asian wealth and retail banking operations, appointed a new group executive for technology, as part of a set of changes that saw Scott Collary, chief information officer, leave the firm. The bank appointed Gerard Florian to the post, reporting to Shayne Elliott, ANZ’s chief executive. domestic (Singapore) team. Chow has 15 years of experience
managing client relationships and wealth portfolios in Asia.
Prior to joining the bank, Chow was executive director, wealth
management at UBS, Singapore. He reports to Sandeep Sharma, head
of HSBC Private Bank, South East Asia.
Bank of East Asia (China) appointed Cartier Lam Chi-man as executive director and chief executive. The role was previously held by Kwan Tat-cheong, who took up a new position as senior advisor to BEA China. Lam has experience in the banking industry and of mainland China’s financial markets due to his 20 years of experience working at BEA. Prior to this appointment, Lam was deputy CEO of BEA China.
Quantifeed, which provides digital wealth management solutions in Asia, appointed Audrey Wong to the combined role of chief operating and financial officer. The firm also made other senior hires in the region, bringing in several figures from Merrill Lynch. The firm is based in Hong Kong. Wong was previously at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she was COO of Asia-Pacific equities in Hong Kong.
Northern Trust appointed Hong Kong-based Caroline Higgins as head of its global funds services in Asia. Higgins joined from Brown Brothers Harriman, where she was head of transfer agency for Asia. She has 25 years’ industry experience in the fund servicing sector.
JP Morgan Asset Management appointed Kenneth Tsang to the newly-created role of managing director and head of research and strategy for real estate in Asia-Pacific. Previously, Tsang held the role of managing director at US-based RED Capital.
North America
Evercore Wealth Management appointed Jill Faherty Lloyd as a managing director and financial advisor, based in New York. In this newly-created role, Lloyd works with investment, planning and fiduciary professionals to focus on expanding the firm's ‘Wise Women’ investor education program.
Her track record includes work as an institutional equities salesperson at Credit Lyonnais Securities USA and at Bear Stearns & Co. She also held financial analyst roles at Iridian Asset Management and Red Coat Capital Management.
Stonehage Fleming recruited former Royal Bank of Canada Wealth Management vice president and managing director Mike Moodie as a consultant and US board member. His role was a newly-created one. Moodie joined RBC in 1985 and held an array of senior leadership positions based in Canada, the Caribbean, US and the UK. He spent seven years leading the expansion of RBC's international wealth management office across the US as head of the Americas. In 2010, he relocated to London to head up the firm's UK wealth management team and remained there until he later retired in 2015.
John Hancock Investments named Luji Brock as managing director supporting its UCITS business, while Brad Feeley joined as managing director and exchange-traded fund specialist. Based in Houston, Brock joined John Hancock last year as vice president and strategic relationship manager for the retirement plan Services business. Previously, she was a UCITS sales specialist at Eaton Vance. Feeley, based in Chicago, most recently worked at Guggenheim Investments, where he sold UITs and ETFs in the Midwest region.
Palmer Square Capital Management appointed Brad McClintock as senior vice president. Previously, McClintock spent more than 15 years with UMB, a Kansas-headquartered financial services firm, as vice president.

RBC Wealth Management recruited a new team of financial advisors to join its Beverly Hills office. The Frankel Patt Group, comprised of financial advisors Richard Frankel and Shawn Patt, along with Constance Johnson, senior registered client associate, joined from Morgan Stanley with around $507 million in assets under management.
Lombard International Assurance appointed Andreas Meier as head of Latin America, a newly-created role. The role is based in Luxembourg. He reports to Axel Hörger, CEO Europe. Meier joined from UBS Deutschland where he was responsible for leading advisor-teams with clients from 14 Latin American countries.
PeoplesBank appointed Charles Field as senior vice president and chief financial officer, replacing Michael Peduzzi who left the bank earlier this year. Most recently, Field was SVP and CFO at East River Bank in Philadelphia. Before that, he worked at The Westchester Bank in the same role.
Evercore appointed John Weinberg as chairman of the board and executive chairman, replacing Roger Altman, who became founder and senior chairman, a newly-created position. Weinberg most recently served as vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group from 2006 to October 2015, having previously spent 12 years as the group’s co-head of global investment banking. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1983 and became partner in 1992. Weinberg has advised companies including Ford, General Electric and Boeing. He has also advised on the initial public offerings of Visa and Under Armour.
Strategic Wealth Partners hired Mark Weil to join its team of wealth advisors. Weil previously spent 20 years trading his own capital on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and mentored aspiring young traders.
Legal & General investment Management appointed Jordan Bond as a senior portfolio manager within its US active fixed income team, continuing the company's chain of senior hires in the States. Bond joined from Pimco, where he most recently served as vice president and portfolio manager, responsible for managing investment-grade assets across the company. Prior to his time at Pimco, he spent eight years as a senior consultant at Morgan Stanley.
Northern Trust elected Michael O’Grady as president. O’Grady reports to Frederick H. Waddell, chairman and chief executive. Until a successor was named, O’Grady retained the existing responsibilities as president, corporate and institutional services. Steve Fradkin, president, wealth management, and Steve Potter, president, asset management, report to O’Grady effective Jan 1, 2017.
BNY Mellon Wealth Management hired Mark Jamison to serve as senior wealth director in its Menlo Park office, northern California. The role is newly created and Jamison serves the Bay Area wealth market. Jamison reports to regional president Robert Kricena. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Jamison was a principal with Bernstein Global Wealth Management.
Artivest appointed Stacie Yates as director of business implementation and Justin Rooney as senior manager of client services. Yates has more than 16 years of alternative investment-related experience, including structuring alternative investment vehicles, as well as a knowledge of legal, compliance and regulatory issues. She joined from the wealth management arm of UBS, where she most recently held the role of executive director of product development and management. Rooney joined from Third Avenue Management, a portfolio manager for private and institutional clients, where he served as an associate director of sales.
The Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists, an organization working to prevent financial crime, appointed two anti-money laundering and compliance experts, Ron King and Barry Koch, as co-chairs of its advisory board. King served as the chief AML officer at Canada's Scotiabank, where he oversaw all aspects of the firm's AML, counter-terrorism financing and sanctions programs. Koch is an independent consultant and private attorney. Most recently, he worked as an assistant district attorney and counsel to the Investigation Division in the New York County District Attorney's office.
Millennium Trust appointed Tom Daley as managing director of its alternative solutions group. Daley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having spent 12 years as a senior executive with LPL Financial Services, a retail investment advisory firm, where he worked on business development and managed relationships with financial advisors.
Mary Jo White, chair of the US' most powerful financial regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission, was to step down at the end of President Obama's term after spending nearly four years as the agency's head. She assumed the role in April 2013.
Advisor Group, a US-based network of independent financial advisors, appointed Jamie Price as its chief executive. Price previously worked for UBS as head of its American wealth management advisor group, where he was responsible for North American client-facing businesses, including 7,300 employees and 7,000 advisors.
Toronto-based Urbana Corporation appointed Sylvia Stinson as its new chief financial officer, replacing Jean Ponter who was set to retire at the end of 2016. Previously, Stinson worked at Canadian asset management firm Middlefield Group for 28 years where she served as chief financial officer and executive vice president, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Associated Capital Group appointed Douglas Jamieson as president and chief executive, replacing Marc Gabelli as president and Mario Gabelli as CEO. Mario Gabelli, founder and CEO of GAMCO Investors, serves as executive chairman of AC, while Marc Gabelli retained his role as a group portfolio manager and an executive of GGCP, the parent of the group. He has held those roles since 1994.
Meanwhile, Agnes Mullady was named executive vice president and will oversee AC’s UCITS offering. Mullady joined the Gabelli Funds division in 2005 and became its president and COO. She will remained as senior vice president of GAMCO Investors. As part of the shake-up, Douglas Jamieson no longer served as president and COO of GAMCO Investors, a role he held since 2004. He continued as president and COO of GAMCO Asset Management, GAMCO’s institutional and private wealth management business. Jamieson and Mullady report to Mario Gabelli.
GAMCO Investors elected Leslie Daniels as a member of its board of directors. Daniels is a former chairman and current member of Florida’s State Board of Administration, Investment Advisory Council.
Legacy Trust appointed Mark Periard as director of wealth management. Periard joined after more than 17 years with law firm Warner Norcross & Jude, where he chaired the trusts and estates practice group and served on the management committee. In his new role, Periard leads the firm’s client advisory team, while also advising Legacy’s family office clients.
Comerica Incorporated appointed Michael Collins to its board of directors. Collins brings nearly 40 years of regulatory experience. He was most recently served a consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and chairman of the advisory board of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He was previously president and chief executive of TD Bank USA, where he managed audit, legal, compliance, anti-money laundering, and regulatory and government affairs functions. Collins also held various roles with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia over a period of 37 years, including as supervising examiner, senior vice president and lending officer.
Fieldpoint Private appointed Juan Castañeda as managing director and senior advisor. Castañeda joined from UBS, where he has held various positions for over a decade, serving Latin American families and institutions. Most recently, he was executive director of emerging market credit sales and head of Latin America. Based in New York City, Castañeda works with family offices, banks, and pension funds across a range of capital markets and structured lending services.
RBC Wealth Management appointed David Galardini as a financial advisor in Pittsburgh. Joining from Merrill Lynch, Galardini has more than 10 years of industry experience. In his new role, he provides wealth management advice to individual and institutional investors. Also joining in Pittsburgh was Cathy Buck as a registered client associate. Both took on newly-created roles.
Legal & General Investment Management appointed Aaron Meder as chief executive of its US-based business. Anton Eser replaced him as chief investment officer. Meder took over from John Bender, who had been acting as interim CEO of Legal & General Investment Management America since the departure of Robert Moore in September this year.
Meder joined LGIMA in 2010 before moving to LGIM’s London office in 2013. Last year, he became head of investment, in charge of the firm’s investment, trading and product teams. He will transition into his role over the next few months and will be based in Chicago. Eser, who joined LGIM in 2006, was co-head of the global fixed income business, overseeing more than 70 investment professionals managing £126 billion ($157 billion) in assets. Colin Reedie, head of Euro credit, became co-head of global fixed income, alongside John Bender, also CIO of US fixed income. Meder and Eser report to Mark Zinkula, CEO of LGIM.
S&T Bank appointed Deborah Robertson as senior wealth
management advisor and vice president. Robertson was previously
vice president and regional trust manager at First Commonwealth
Advisors.
Signator Investors appointed Joseph Terry as deputy chief
compliance officer. In his previous role, Terry was chief
supervision officer for AIG's advisor group, where he was
responsible for the oversight of supervision activities, both in
the retail and investment advisory businesses, as well as leading
an organization of around 100 employees. In his new position, he
is responsible for the Signator's overall compliance and assists
with the implementing the US Department of Labor fiduciary rule
across the broker-dealer.
iCapital Network, the online financial technology platform, hired Anthony Wilson as senior vice president for the West Coast in the US. Wilson is a business development executive who has worked with RIAs, institutions, family offices and private banks. He has worked at firms including Morgan Creek Capital, Highland Capital Management and Artio Global Investors. He is based in San Francisco.
Calamos Investments appointed Matt Freund as co-chief investment officer, head of fixed income strategies. Freund joined from USAA Investments, where he was CIO of USAA Investments, leading the teams responsible for the portfolio management of the firm’s mutual funds and affiliated portfolios, including P&C and life insurance products, overseeing more than $140 billion in assets. He was lead portfolio manager for several of the firm’s fixed income mutual funds, having joined USAA back in 1994.
Citi Private Bank appointed Mark Maxson as a director and investment counselor team leader for Southern California and Phoenix. Maxson joined from JP Morgan's private banking arm, where he was an executive director and investment specialist for the Southern California marketplace.
Peapack-Gladstone appointed Gary Walker as senior managing director and private banker for the bank's wealth management division. Walker has more than 32 years of experience in the financial services and legal arenas. Prior to joining Peapack-Gladstone Bank, he held the roles of vice president and relationship manager at Glenmede Trust, where he worked with clients and their advisors on estate, tax, and financial planning solutions for often complex family relationships.
Snowden Lane Partners hired Michael Mahoney as partner and managing director within its New York City-based Veritas Private Wealth group. Mahoney joined after eight years as a vice president and financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. He specializes in financial planning-based asset management, with a focus on estate planning and wealth transfer for high net worth individuals and their families. He works alongside current Veritas partners and managing directors Jesse Clinton, Joseph Hubbell and Phillip Pedrena, who collectively oversee more than $350 million in client assets.
US-based investment manager Admiral Capital appointed Joseph Walsh as chief operating officer. Walsh was previously in the US army, where he held leadership roles ranging from tank platoon leader to battalion staff officer, before joining Goldman Sachs for the best part of a decade. Additionally, he held former roles at Moelis & Company, Cole Real Estate Investments, and RCS Capital, and consequently gained experience in investment banking, business development, strategic analysis and business process re-engineering.
Victory Park Capital, a restructuring and investments business, appointed Zhengyuan Lu as a principal within its investment team. Lu was previously senior vice president and head of capital markets and treasury at OnDeck, where he led all capital markets and fund raising activities. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience, having also served as managing director and head of the asset financing group of Gleacher & Company. In his new role, Lu is based in New York City.
Ann Senne returned to RBC Wealth Management US to head up its newly created advice and solutions group. Senne, previously senior vice president and head of wealth management product at US Bank, formerly spent more than 20 years of her career at RBC. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she originally joined RBC Wealth Management in 1994 and was latterly the firm’s head of global client experience. She also managed teams responsible for mutual fund and retirement services in the US as well as North American fee-based programs.
JP Morgan Private Bank appointed Marcel Katayama to its asset manager selection team in Brazil. Katayama was previously fund of funds portfolio manager at Itaú Unibanco, where he worked since 2011. Before that, he was fund of funds portfolio manager at BTG. Based in Sao Paulo, Katayama focuses on manager selection and fund research.
RBC Wealth Management assigned Heide Wealth Management Group to its Chicago office, according to Burton Street, director of the firm’s Chicago complex. Joining from Wells Fargo Advisors, Heide Wealth Management Group is headed by Wells Fargo veteran David Heide and includes five additional financial advisors and five support staff. Heide has been in the financial services industry since 1990 and joined Wells Fargo advisors in 1995. He and his team operate out of RBC’s Orland Park branch, which is led by John Dwyer.
Rockefeller appointed David Rockefeller Jr as chairman of the board of directors, replacing Colin Campbell, who served as chairman since 2003. Rockefeller Jr leads the board of directors in overseeing the company’s business. He works with chief executive and president Reuben Jeffery III to deliver advisory and asset management services to clients.

Voya Investment Management appointed Drew Schechtman as vice president, environment, social and governance (ESG) integration leader, a newly-created role. Schechtman was previously vice president and head of sustainability and environmental investing at BNY Mellon, responsible for leading the development and implementation of the firm’s sustainable finance solutions across various business lines. Before joining BNY Mellon in 2011, he was a senior sustainability consultant at Viridian Energy and Environmental. He is based in New York.

Partners, a registered investment advisor overseeing $250 million
in assets, based in Wilmington, NC. Chief investment officer

Merrill Lynch appointed Jennifer Jennings and Donny Wohl as
private wealth advisors from JP Morgan’s private bank in
Michigan. The Jennings Wohl Group serves high net worth
individuals and families and are part of Merrill Lynch’s Private
Banking & Investment Group. Jennings began her financial services
career at Merrill Lynch in 1996 as a financial advisor in San
Jose, California. In 2010, she joined JP Morgan’s private bank in
Michigan where she worked closely with high-net-worth individuals
and families. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Wohl spent more
than 10 years with JP Morgan’s private bank.
Associated Bank’s executive vice president and chief information
and operations officer, James Yee, was to retire in the second
quarter of 2017, it said. Yee joined the Wisconsin-headquartered

In preparation for Yee's departure, the company appointed its chief technology officer, James Payne, as executive vice president and deputy chief information and operations officer. He reports to Yee and serve as a member of the executive committee. Payne joined Associated last year with more than 30 years of operations and technology experience, including 18 years within the financial services industry.
