Sun Life Singapore Names New CEO

Sun Life has operations in a number of markets worldwide, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, India, China, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Bermuda.

Sun Life Singapore has appointed Christopher Albrecht as its new chief executive, effective 1 January 2024.

The previous CEO was Belinda Au, who is now with Chubb Life Hong Kong, the firm told WealthBriefingAsia.

Based in Singapore, Albrecht will be responsible for leading the strategic and operational aspects of Sun Life Singapore business. He will report to Karim Gilani, president, Greater China, Singapore and International High Net Worth, Sun Life Financial. 

Albrecht brings more than 25 years of valuable expertise in the insurance space, having served in senior roles at HSBC Insurance (Singapore), Old Mutual International, Swiss Life and 1291 Group (Hong Kong). He has worked in the HNW banking, insurance, and brokerage sectors. Albrecht, who is originally from the UK and moved to Singapore in 2005, later relocated to Hong Kong in 2017.

 As of 30 September 2023, Sun Life had total assets under management of C$1.34 trillion ($1.0 trillion).
