UBP Targets Singapore
The Swiss private banking group strengthens its presence in Singapore, as part of its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
Union Bancaire Privée has made seven new senior hires at its Singapore branch, at a time when the region is increasingly seen as a key global wealth management centre.
This will enable the bank to strengthen its presence across Asian markets and deepen its penetration in the ultra-high net worth (UHNW) and family offices segments which remain the priority objectives of the bank in Singapore, the firm said in a statement.
Only recently, the Swiss private banking group made a number of senior changes in Hong Kong and Singapore and strengthened its presence in Japan through the acquisition of Angel Japan Asset Management. See here.
In the latest move, Jennie Hananto has joined UBP as market head for Southeast Asia. She will manage a team of bankers and focus on UBP's strategy to grow its presence in Southeast Asia markets. Prior to joining UBP, Hananto led a Southeast Asia team at EFG Private Bank and served as the vice chair of Southeast Asia at Bank J Safra Sarasin, the firm continued.
Yi Mun Tse is taking up the market head role for Greater China, bringing her experience in managing clients and bankers in the region. Before joining UBP, Tse served as market head of Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, Greater China, and held a similar position at HSBC Private Banking, the firm said.
Donniel Low has been appointed as team head for Southeast Asia, where he will play a key part in growing the UHNW segment in the region, the firm added. Before joining UBP, Low worked as an investor in startups building on his years spent at UOB Private Banking where he was team head and UHNW senior client advisor.
UBP said it has also welcomed the arrival of four senior relationship managers: Lim Kean Choon, Valerie Tan, Zen Cheng and Whilton Leo.
Before joining UBP, Choon was managing high net worth clients at UOB Private Bank Singapore, as well as HSBC Private Bank, Singapore. Tan was previously with Bank Pictet & Cie (Asia), Bank of Singapore, and Barclays Bank PLC (Wealth & Management Investment). Cheng is joining from Goldman Sachs' global markets division, the firm said. Leo was a relationship manager at EFG Bank in Singapore, and also worked at Bank J Safra Sarasin.
UBP said it will continue expanding its capabilities throughout Asia, leveraging its ability to provide customised wealth solutions, while delivering the high service level expected by its clients in Singapore and in Asia.
