UBS Names Australia Wealth Management Head

The appointee has worked at a variety of firms, including Credit Suisse and Citi Private Bank.

UBS has appointed Andrew Bird as head of wealth management for Australia, after leading National Australia Bank's wealth management arm, JBWere, for a decade.

Bird, who is rejoining the firm afer spending time as a market manager for UBS in Melbourne; has also served in senior roles at Credit Suisse’s private bank, and Citi Private Bank.

“Australia is a critical pillar of our APAC growth strategy, and we continue to increase our footprint, invest in talents and on-the-ground capabilities to fully capture the significant growth potential of the market,” UBS said in a statement.

In his new role, Bird will be based in Sydney reporting to Jin Yee Young, co-head for global wealth management, Asia-Pacific, and locally to Nick Hughes and Greg Peirce, co-country heads of Australasia. He will join the GWM Southeast Asia, Japan, India and Australia management team, as well as the Australia Country Management Forum.
