Lombard Odier Investment Managers has launched a new fintech strategy- that aims to invest in the companies upending traditional financial services by digital technology.

The strategy follows a high-conviction stock selection process, founded in the fundamental analysis of global markets. A portfolio of around 50 well-diversified stocks is put together after firms are chosen for a strong financial track record and business practices. LOIM also checks whether valuations and firms’ business models are robust.

The investment team is led by Henk Grootveld, who joined LOIM in January 2020 from Robeco, bringing over twenty years’ expertise in thematic investment. The strategy is managed by Jeroen van Oerle and Christian Vondenbusch, who joined LOIM together with Henk. Jeroen has a specialisation in technology and was previously portfolio manager of Robeco’s Global FinTech Equities strategy. Vondenbusch is a senior portfolio manager.

The global trends offering - also registered in Singapore - captures themes such as digitalisation, consumer brands and healthy living. LOIM manages almost $2 billion across several thematic strategies such as Global Fintech, Global Prestige and Golden Age.
