Tin Men Capital
Singapore-based venture capital firm Tin Men Capital has held the first closing of its $100 million fund that focuses on business-to-business startups in Southeast Asia, media reports said.

Initial investors in Tin Men Fund 1 include family offices, individuals and companies from Southeast Asia and Taiwan, reports said.

WealthBriefingAsia has contacted the firm for confirmation and may update this article in due course.

The fund targets opportunities in smart industrial technologies and automation that are arising in segments such as smart cities, security, enterprise productivity, transport and logistics, omni-channel retail enablement, and travel and tourism. Tin Men I has also announced investments in two Singapore startups — Overdrive IOT and Globaltix, reports said.

Tin Men was launched in March this year by Murli Rav, who had been head of South Asia Investments at JAFCO Asia Pacific), Jeremy Tan, formerly at Morgan Stanley and Puma Energy, and Benjamin Tan, who has been an entrepreneur and angel investor.

Tin Men’s stellar advisory board spans industry, investing and entrepreneurship, and consists of Robert Binyon, Lee Ah Boon, Haresh Khoobchandani, Prof Bala Vissa, and Tan Chin Hwee.

Tata Asset Management
Indian-based Tata Asset Management has launched Tata Multicap Fund, which is an open-ended equity scheme investing across largecap, midcap and smallcap stocks.

The new fund opened on 17 August and will close on 31 August. The scheme will re-open for continuous sale and repurchase after the allotment.

The scheme will focus on tracking sectors on a top down basis and companies on a bottom up basis. The investment strategy of the fund would be to invest in opportunities across sectors and market cap in line with the fund manager's conviction.

The fund will be benchmarked against S&P BSE500 Index TRI. Sonam Udasi will manage the scheme. He currently manages the Tata Equity P/E Fund, Tata India Consumer Fund and Tata Retirement Savings among other schemes.
