Indonesia has just appointed Wit Oemar (pictured)
as head of corporate banking for Indonesia, starting
in March.
He will report to K Balasubramanian, head of corporate banking, Asia South, Citi and Batara Sianturi, chief country officer of Citi Indonesia, the firm said in a statement.
In this role, Oemar will oversee Citi’s corporate banking business in Indonesia – leading strategic initiatives to strengthen client relationships across local corporates, financial institutions, the public sector, and multinational clients.
Oemar first joined Citi Indonesia in 2006 as one of the founding members of Citi Commercial Bank in Indonesia. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions, including serving as director for local corporates in corporate and investment banking in 2009 and head of global subsidiaries group, Indonesia in 2018. Most recently, since 2023, he was head of global network banking, Indonesia, where he led Citi’s coverage of multinational clients in Indonesia, the firm said.
Given Citigroup's integrated business model, the corporate banking side of the lender typically works closely with the private banking arm; many of its clients are high net worth and ultra-HNW clients owning operating companies.
